The Competition Council has expressed its agreement in principle for the retailer Annabella SRL to purchase the 87 stores that Mega Image has committed to selling in order to complete the takeover of Profi Rom Food SRL, the competition authority informs in a press release. The Competition Council authorized the transaction through which Delhaize "The Lion" Nederland BV (Mega Image) took over Profi Rom Food SRL with conditions relating both to the relationship with suppliers and to the functioning of the local retail market for consumer goods, mainly food, through stores. Thus, Mega Image has committed to divest 87 stores in 44 localities where the activities of the two companies overlap and could lead to a reduction in consumer choice. In this context, Mega Image presented to the competition authority the proposal that Annabella SRL purchase the 87 stores, including all the assets and personnel necessary to ensure the viability and competitiveness of the respective stores, in particular: commercial space, equipment, personnel, stock, clientele and commercial ford."Through this acquisition, Annabella will enter markets where it has not been present before, such as Cluj, Bihor, Timis, Bacau, Vrancea or Constanta, becoming a new competitor on the retail market.
