Consumption, the main destination of household expenditures, accounted for an average of 61.1% of total household expenditures last year, amounting to 2,979.3 lei per month per household, according to data centralised by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).The monetary expenses for the purchase of food products (including the expenses in the public catering units), non-food expenses and for the payment of the services were of 2,745.8 lei per month (56.3% of the total expenses).The other part of consumption expenditures, the value of human consumption from own resources (those food and non-food products from own resources that are consumed by household members) was equal to 233.5 lei per household and represented 4.8% of total expenditures.Expenditures for household production in 2021 accounted for 1.9% of total expenditures, of which 0.4% went to cash expenditures, and 1.5% to the equivalent value of productive consumption from own resources (fodder, seeds, etc.) used for household production. The latter amounted to, on average, 72.4 lei per month per household.
