Dacian Thunder 2015 exercise at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base and Air Base 71 of Campia Turzii, December 4-20

Nearly 200 Romanian troops and some 350 US troops are taking part in Dacian Thunder 2015 exercise conducted December 4-20, at the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base and Air Base 71 of Campia Turzii. "There are nearly 200 Romanian troops, pilots and technical staff, using MiG-21 LanceR aircraft as well as IAR-330 Puma SOCAT and MEDEVAC helicopters, and some 350 American troops, using A-10 aircraft and related hardware belonging to the US Air Force deployed in Europe, participating in the exercise," the Romanian Defence Ministry (MApN) reported on Friday. Dacian Thunder 2015, in its second edition, is Romanian-US exercise designed to increase interoperability of the personnel involved, exchanges of experience and improving training of the Romanian and US air forces by conducting joint flights in accordance with NATO standards. The first edition was held March 27- July 7, at Air Base 71 of Campia Turzii.
