DefMin Mosteanu: Romania has been constantly helping Ukraine with equipment and ammunition since the war started

August 20, 2025

Romania has been helping Ukraine, constantly since the beginning of the war, with equipment and with ammunition, stated on Sunday the minister of National Defence, Ionut Mosteanu. He participated, on Sunday, together with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, in the military and religious ceremony organized in memory of the heroes of the airmen at the Air Heroes Monument in Aviatorilor Square, on the occasion of the Romanian Aviation and Air Forces Day.'Since the war started, Romania has been constantly helping Ukraine with equipment and ammunition. And until now, there has been a decision not to publicize certain aid. There is a discussion that we will have between the government and the presidency to determine how we will do this in the future, whether we will say publicly, and I think we can say. There are things with which we have helped and continue to help the Ukrainians to defend themselves, quite frequently,' said Ionut Mosteanu, when asked whether Romania continues to help Ukraine with weapons and military equipment.   'Constantly, since the war started, Romania has been helping Ukraine with equipment and ammunition, and until now, there has been a decision not to make certain aid public. It is a discussion that we will have between the Government and the Presidency to determine how we will do in the future, whether we will say publicly, and I think we can say it. There are things with which we have helped and we continue to help the Ukrainians to defend themselves, quite frequently,' said Ionut Mosteanu, asked if Romania continues to help Ukraine with weapons and military equipment.   The minister gave as an example of military aid offered to Ukraine, the training for Ukrainian pilots. ‘We are the only army, besides the United States of America who trains F-16 pilots in Fetesti.
