DefMin Mosteanu talks with chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff of Pakistan about expanding cooperation

The Minister of National Defense, Ionut Mosteanu, discussed, on Monday, with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, about expanding military cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) informs.According to a press release, Ionut Mosteanu and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, met on Monday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, who was visiting Romania, with the discussions focusing on expanding military cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries and on analyzing the security situation, both in the Black Sea region and in the Near and Middle East, respectively South and East Asia.The minister of national defense highlighted Romania's commitment to strengthening regional security and emphasized the important role of the defense dialogue between the two states, the MApN informed."Today's visit represents an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations in the defense field and to identify new ways in which our armed forces can collaborate for the benefit of both parties," said Minister Mosteanu, quoted in the press release.According to the press release, during the meeting, the Chief of Defense Staff highlighted areas of mutual interest for the Romanian Army and the Pakistani Armed Forces."Joint training, preparation for participation in international missions, technical-military cooperation and programs provided through training centers and military education institutions represent some of the practical forms in which our collaboration has materialized. We will continue to cultivate this relationship and find new opportunities to work together," General Gheorghita Vlad was quoted as saying in the press release.The Ministry of National Defense informs that the visit agenda in Romania of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan includes visits to the command centres of the force categories, to the General Directorate for Armaments, as well as meetings with representatives of the national defense industry.  (Photo:https://armed.mapn.ro/)
