DNSC warns about recent activiites of Scattered Spider group

August 28, 2025

The National Directorate of Cyber Security (DNSC) warns about the recent activities of the Scattered Spider group, known for sophisticated attacks on critical infrastructure and organizations in the public and private sector.   “The group is using advanced social engineering techniques, exploits relations with IT suppliers and has in view to obtain access to sensitive data, including ransomware type actions, DNSC representatives point out on the Facebook page of the institution. DNSC intends to support prevention efforts and contribute to the development of an organization culture focused on digital resilience and continuous awareness. Essential recommendations of specialists in cyber security for the reduction of risks are: maintaining regularly tested offline backups; activating advanced multifactor authentification; applying strict policies for application control. “Organizations are encouraged to periodically review security measures and actively collaborate with relevant partners to prevent, detect and efficiently answer such threats,” DNSC points out.
