E.ON Energie Romania: almost 27% of the thermal units on gas in Romania are older than ten years and should be replaced

May 5, 2022

Almost 27% of the gas thermal units in Romania are older than ten years and should be replaced, according to the results of a survey made by E.ON. A condensing power plant can reduce natural gas consumption by up to 30%.   E.ON mentions the fact that, in a context of increased volatility of the energy prices, energy efficiency measures for the reduction of consumption without affecting comfort, with the purpose of dropping the value of the energy bills, must be a preoccupation for all users.   Replacing old, low-efficiency and high-consumption plants with new, energy-efficient ones is one of the most affordable solutions. A condensing power plant provides up to 30% reduction in natural gas consumption due to 108% efficiency compared to conventional power plants.   The benefit for the user is the reduction of the gas consumption up to approximately 3,600 kWh per year, for an average annual consumption of almost 12,000 kWh, with an economy for the bill to almost 1,000 lei per year.   The German group E.ON is one the leaders on the energy market. The companies in the group, Delgaz Grid, E.ON Energie Romania and E.ON Asist Complet develop activities of distribution, energy supply and energy solutions, namely technical ones for almost 3.4 million users. Since they entered the Romanian market, E.ON has invested over 1.9 billion euro, mainly in the modernization of the grid. At the same time, the value of the contributions to the state budget and the local budgets is 2.7 billion euro.
