E.ON Romania exceeds 10,500 residential solar systems, market grows 30%

E.ON Energie Romania installed over 1,200 photovoltaic systems for residential customers in the first six months of 2026, through the E.ON Solar Home program, up 30% compared to the same period in 2025. Thus, the threshold of 10,500 photovoltaic systems installed for residential customers was exceeded starting with 2020.   According to a study conducted by E.ON Energie Romania in June of this year, Romanians’ interest in solar energy remains high, with almost two in ten Romanians (17%) declaring that they intend to purchase a photovoltaic system in the next 12 months, a share similar to that recorded last year.   At the same time, the number of those who have already taken the step towards producing their own energy is increasing. The share of households that own a photovoltaic system has risen from 8% to 11% in a single year, according to the study.   When asked what the most important criteria are when choosing a photovoltaic system offer, respondents indicate the warranty of the installed system, the price per kW installed and the availability of additional technical assistance and maintenance services.   At the same time, more and more of the company’s customers are choosing to complement their investment with energy storage solutions. If in previous years only about 10% of the installed systems included storage batteries, in the first half of this year the share reached 91% in the case of systems installed by E.ON.   “The 30% increase in the number of systems installed in the first semester shows that interest in photovoltaic energy remains strong even in the absence of a new financing session through the Casa Verde Photovoltaice program. The market is starting to mature, and the investment decision is increasingly determined by the long-term economic benefits and the desire for energy independence, not exclusively by the existence of a subsidy. At the same time, we see that storage batteries are becoming the new standard for residential customers, being included in nine out of ten systems we currently install,” said Claudia Griech, General Manager of E.ON Energie Romania. Also regarding batteries, 15% of the study participants say they intend to purchase a storage system. Among those who already own a photovoltaic system, over half (51%) say they intend to invest in a storage battery in the next 12 months.   By capturing solar energy, you can make significant savings on your electricity bill, up to 70%.For example, for an average monthly consumption of up to 255 kWh, the company recommends installing a photovoltaic system with a power of 3.3 kW with a 5 kWh storage battery for annual savings of up to 3,300 lei.   For an average monthly consumption of up to 500 kWh, it is recommended to install a photovoltaic system with a power of 5.5 kW with a 5 kWh storage battery for annual savings of up to 6,300 lei.   Residential photovoltaic systems installed by E.ON start at 3 kW, are available in single-phase and three-phase versions, and can include storage solutions with 5, 10 and 15 kWh batteries.
