EC Representation to Romania launches online anti-disinformation platform

The European Commission's Representation to Romania is launching a new onlineVideo content made by youtube influencers such as Dezaburit or Zaiafet is available on the new platform. One of the items explains "What is fake news and how to recognize it in 7 steps". The new platform also encourages interaction with the general public, inviting them to join the initiative or report cases of disinformation related to theplatform dedicated to combating disinformation. Dubbed 'trUE - The Naked Truth', the platform brings together articles, case studies, video content made in collaboration with influencers, as well as didactic material that can be used during class hours, the EC Representation said in a release on Monday.Head of the EC Representation to Romania Ramona Chiriac cited Standard Eurobarometer 98 data according to which 65 percent of Romanians declare that news or information that, in their opinion, distorts reality or is downright fake represents a problem for democracy."We want 'trUE - The Naked Truth' to provide a basic set of tools enabling as many Romanians as possible to identify reality-distorting information about the European Union and not only, circulated in the public space. We offer free online resources dedicated to combating disinformation, resources that can be used in class by teachers, information about debunked myths, video podcasts made by influencers that help us 'translate' sometimes too technical information to everyone's understanding, and much more," declared by Ramona Chiriac.
