Eight evenings of open-air classical music concerts, as of September 17, in the Enescu Festival Square

Eight evenings of open-air classical music concerts are scheduled, starting September 17 to 24, in the Enescu Festival Square.According to a press release of ARCUB - Cultural Center of Bucharest, the performances will feature orchestras, choirs, conductors, renowned voices and instrumentalists from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as performances by renowned artists such as: pianist Madalina Pasol, violinist Alexandru Tomescu, who will take the stage alongside pianist Sinziana Mircea and cellist Stefan Cazacu, flutist Matei Ioachimescu, who will perform with the PERCUSSIONescu trio, and, last but not least, Zoli Toth, as soloist of the closing concert of the Camerata Regala Orchestra, conducted by Constantin Grigore.The Festival Square 2023 starts on Sunday with the concert of the Dinu Lipatti State Philharmonic Orchestra from Satu Mare, which will perform alongsie cellist Constantin Borodin, under the baton of conductor Azis Sadikovic.The concerts of the edition continue on September 18, with the chamber music recital made up of Rafael Butaru, Mircea Lazar, Madalina Fara and Cristiana Mihart. Violinist Alexandru Tomescu will then perform in the WIND WATER EARTH concert, alongside Sinziana Mircea and Stefan Cazacu.The scholarship holders of the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation will perform on September 19, with the musical programme to continue with a piano recital by Madalina Pasol. The programme includes works by Frederic Chopin, Sergei Rachmaninov, Franz Liszt.A true "rockstar" of classical music, known internationally for his creative interpretation and the way he conveys emotion and interacts with the audience, flutist Matei Ioachimescu comes to the Festival Square in the company of the exceptional chamber group PERCUSSIONescu.The BRD Evening - "From Renaissance Music to Classical and Electronic Music" and the concert of the Chamber Choir "Preludiu - Voicu Enachescu", is scheduled on September 20. The AEDEA Trio will perform on the same evening, followed by a story of the evolution of music, from Bach to today's electronic music, presented by Paul Ilea in the concert "Sync The Classics".On September 21, the audience will enjoy a varied musical programme performed by the artists of the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonic from the Republic of Moldova. Tatiana Costiuc, Marin Gheras, Sergiu Musat, Viorica Agafita, Eugen Negruta, Andrei Iurcu will bring to the fore compositions by the famous composers Astor Piazzolla, Fantezia Carmen, Frederick Loewe or George Gershwin.On September 22, a unique ensemble in the Romanian musical landscape will perform, the Big Band Radio Romania, under the baton of Simona Strungaru, while the penultimate evening at the Festival Square is dedicated, on September 23, to the concert performed by artist Miruna Ionescu accompanied by the Ion Dumitrescu Philharmonic Orchestra from Ramnicu Valcea, conducted by Tiberiu Oprea.On the last evening, Sunday 24 September, one of the most reputed Romanian artists, the promoter of unconventional percussion music in Romania, conceptual artist Zoli Toth will perform in the closing concert of the Festival Square, with the promise to create a magical atmosphere together with the Camerata Regala Orchestra, conducted by Constantin Grigore.The Festival Square is part of the series of projects of the George Enescu International Festival, the third most important music event in the world, after the BBC Proms and the Lucerne Festival.
