eJobs analysis: Rise of 10% in job openings in Romania in October

November 27, 2025

The total number of jobs in Romania increased by 10 percent in October, with the most significant growth seen in call centres, the food industry and services, according to data centralized by an online recruitment platform. Thus, since the beginning of October, over 25,000 new jobs have been posted, as employers prepare for increased workload in the coming period, with Black Friday campaigns and the approach of the winter holidays being the two main factors driving the need to expand teams."A period has begun in which the number of options for candidates is increasing, but it should be mentioned that these options are mainly aimed at entry-level candidates with a maximum of two years' experience. Although we are talking about a contextual increase in activity created by the two events - Black Friday and the winter holidays - only 10 percent of the positions posted are part-time and fewer than 5 percent are seasonal," the head of sales at eJobs, Roxana Draghici said in a release sent on Thursday.According to the quoted source, the areas showing the largest increase in hiring were: call centres/BPO (+80 percent compared with September), the food industry (+17 percent) and services (+5 percent). In absolute numbers, this represents 6,400 jobs posted by call centre/BPO employers, 3,300 positions in the food industry and 3,400 in services. Other areas with increased staffing needs during this period include retail, tourism and transport/logistics (which also covers courier businesses). Among all sectors, retail remains the largest employer, posting nearly 6,500 positions despite not registering growth compared with the previous month. At the same time, the number of applications attracted by job offers in these sectors reached 900,000 in the past month, of which 355,000 were for retail positions, 130,000 for services, 121,000 for call centre/BPO roles and 96,000 for tourism. Moreover, employers in transport and courier services received 90,000 applications, while those in the food industry attracted 93,000.According to the analysis, the majority of applications for these sectors come from entry-level candidates with a maximum of two years' experience.Currently, eJobs.ro lists 24,000 vacant positions, with an additional 8,000 jobs available on iajob.ro.
