Energy Ministry announces interest of Qatar company Electricity & Water to invest in Romania

Virgil Popescu, the energy minister announced on Tuesday, following a meeting with the ambassador of Qatar, the interest of the company Qatar Electricity& Water to invest in Romania.   “Today we had a work meeting with His Excellency Osama Yousef Abdullah Alqaradawi, the Ambassador of the state of Qatar in Romania. We discussed about the intensification and diversification of relations between the two countries, the stage and prospects of the bilateral relation at economic and business level, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation in fields of mutual interest”, Virgil Popescu wrote on Facebook.   The minister points out that Qatar Electricity & Water, one of the biggest company in the field of producing electricity and water desalination in the Middle East, is interested in investing in the Romanian market in concrete projects in the energy field.   “We pointed out that states in the Gulf area represent energy players with important potential at global level in the perspective of securing energy supply. Qatar is a country with important natural gas resources and one of the main world producers of liquid natural gas used in producing energy,”the minister showed.
