The value of payments made to project beneficiaries in the energy sector funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) in 2026 exceeded EUR130 million, with the total cumulative payments since the start of the program reaching EUR342.77 million, the Ministry of Energy announced in a statement.According to the cited source, between June 29 and July 3, 2026, payments were authorized and made for seven transfer requests and one technical assistance invoice related to projects funded through the PNRR, with the total amount paid standing at EUR19.66 million.Regarding the transfer requests currently being processed, they amount to approximately EUR133.85 million, comprising 35 cases totaling EUR78.89 million from 2025 and 47 cases totaling EUR54.96 million from 2026.In addition, contracts totaling EUR67.07 million were terminated.The value for which payment claims can still be submitted is approximately EUR278.27 million?a figure subject to adjustment based on the implementation dynamics of financing contracts (which may be terminated) and the ongoing PNRR negotiation process between the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) and the European Commission.The Ministry of Energy states that the implementation of projects funded through the PNRR is making tangible progress. At an institutional level, clear targets have been set, focusing on unblocking and streamlining payment flows to ensure available funds are utilized on schedule and deliver a real impact on ongoing projects. To this end, measures have been taken to extend project implementation deadlines, allowing for the full eligibility period provided for in Regulation (EU) 2021/241. Additionally, given that 80% of the transfer requests are final, monitoring visits have been prioritized. Furthermore, to shorten the approval process for final requests, the Ministry is considering the possibility of authorizing transfer requests for projects that have obtained the NPT (Notification of Energization)?the stage at which PNRR-funded investments are deemed complete?the statement notes.At the same time, the Ministry of Energy reaffirms its commitment to expeditiously process transfer requests and to support beneficiaries in the implementation of projects funded through the PNRR."The steady trend in payments made and the high number of projects under implementation reflect the dynamics of investments in the energy sector and contribute to accelerating Romania's modernization and energy transition process," ministry representatives stated.
