Over the past 14 years, Garanti BBVA has financed environmental projects with more than EUR 500,000 through the partnership developed with WWF-Romania, the Bucharest-based bank said in a release on Monday, detailing that its cooperation with WWF-Romania began in 2010, with the launch of the WWF Bonus Card, which allowed cardholders to direct 0.3 percent of their purchases to WWF projects. Through this initiative, the bank contributed EUR 500,000-plus to essential actions carried out by WWF for the conservation of the environment in the Carpathian Mountains and along the Danube, supporting at the same time the sustainable development of local communities.The allocated funds allowed WWF-Romania to carry out a series of impactful projects, including: the improvement of the Forestry Code: Initiatives aimed at combating illegal logging and reducing deforestation; the WeWilder Campus - contribution to the sustainable development of the Armenis community (Caras-Severin County); the first BearSmart City - implementation of intelligent solutions to promote the peaceful coexistence between humans and bears; the bison reintroduction initiative, in collaboration with Rewilding Europe; ecological restoration in the Danube Delta, in Mahmudia, Tulcea County.Garanti BBVA is part of Garanti BBVA Romania Group, along with Garanti BBVA Leasing, Garanti BBVA Credite de Consum and Garanti BBVA Fleet Management.
