The German MEP, Manfred Weber (CSU – Christlich Soziale Union) was re-elected on Wednesday as chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament with a crushing majority, according to the group site. Re-elected for the fourth time, Weber chairs the largest political group in the European Parliament since 2014. At the same time, the EPP Group has renewed the whole leadership team which includes ten vice-chaimen, also elected on Wednesday. Among those there is Siegfried Muresan (PNL) who was re-elected.The other nine Vice-Presidents are François-Xavier Bellamy (France, Les Républicains), Andrzej Halicki (Poland, Platforma Obywatelska), Jeroen Lenaers (Netherlands, Christen Democratisch Appel), Dolors Montserrat (Spain, Partido Popular), Lidia Pereira (Portugal, Partido Social Democrata), Massimiliano Salini (Italy, Forza Italia), Tomas Tobe (Sweden, Moderaterna)Romana Tomc (Slovenia, Slovenska demokratska stranka), Zeljana Zovko (Croatia, Hrvatska demokratska zajednica). Following the European Parliament elections on 9 June, the EPP Group remains the largest political group in the European Parliament with 190 MEPs. The group has 11 MEPs from Romania out of a total of 33 who represent the country in the EU legislature.
