European Commission adopts Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Program of over 175 million euros

The European Commission adopts Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Program of over 175 million euros. The money is meant for four counties in Romania and four counties of Hungary.   The Development Ministry announced on Tuesday, that Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Program was adopted by the European Commission and its overall budget is 175.94 million euros, 80% of that amount representing the allocation of FEDR (140.75 million euros).   The source pointed out that the Program will support joint cross border initiatives, as well as exchanges of experience, joint strategies/action plans.   The latter will contribute to the increase of cooperation in the field of renewable energies, contributing to building green and renewable energy communities , including the promotion of joint solutions for the expansion and promotion of Renewable Energy Sources in the program area (generation of projects); the increase of the capacity and efficiency of emergency services and the prevention of risks (both climate and non-climate), through cooperation; the improvement of coordination and protection of the natural patrimony along the border; the increase of resilience and quality in the health sector, through cooperation.   This program also intends to develop a joint vision for the promotion of the cultural and natural patrimony, including cultural initiatives and the development of tourist sites; the thorough understanding of cross border exchanges and the increase of the planning capacity of some efficient joint actions, contributing to the increase of the number and quality of joint strategies; a better understanding of the ways of removing barriers in the way of cooperation and identification of possible solutions, with the involvement of the adequate ruling level; the increase if interpersonal actions and cross border cooperation through joint initiatives.
