Eurostat: Portugal and Romania, the EU states with the highest increases of construction works in June

Construction works have increased both in the European Union and the euro zone, in June 2024, as compareàd to May 2024, but Portugal and Romania were the countries with the highest advance in this sector, from one month to the next, show the data published on Tuesday by Eurostat.   According to these data, the construction works increased by 1.7% in the euro zone and by 1.4% in the EU in June 2024, compared to the month of May 2024. Among the EU member states, the most important increases were registered in Portugal (3.2%) and Romania (2.6%). In the case of Romania, the increase of 2.6% of June 2024 comes after a drop of 6.1% in May.   Annually June  2024 as compared to June 2023 the construction works have increased by 1%in the euro zone but dropped slightly by 0.1% in the EU. In Romania, the construction works registered an annual decline stronger than the average of the EU, contraction of 3.2% similar to that of May.   According to the data presented, by the National Institute for Statistics (INS) in Romania, in June as compared to the previous month, the volume of construction works has increased as a gross series, 8.8%.As adjusted series depending on the number of working days and season, the volume of construction works increased by 2.6%.   In June 2024, as compared to June 2023, the volume of construction works, as a gross series, dropped, as a total, by 6%. As an adjusted series depending on working days and season, the volume of construction works dropped by 0.4%.
