Construction works dropped slightly in EU in June 2025, compared to May 2025, but Romania is one of the member states with the highest advance of construction works, from one month to another, according to data released by Eurostat on Thursday. According to these data, construction works dropped by 0.8% in the euro zone and by 0.5% in EU, in June 2025, against May. However, the most important increases were recorded in Slovakia (5.3%), Romania (4.5%) and Poland (3.2%). In Romania's case, the 4.5% increase in June 2025 comes after a decline of 0.2% in May. At annual level, in June 2025, against June 2024, construction works went up by1.7% in the euro zone and by 1.9% in EU. In this case too, Romania is among countries with the highest advance of construction works (7.1%). The highest increases in EU were recorded in Spain (31.4%), Czechia (14%), Slovakia (9.8%) and Slovenia (9.3%). According to data previously presented by the National Statistic Insitute (INS), in Romania, reported to June 2024, the volume of construction works went up by 8.8%. Increases were recorded for capital repairs (+39.3%), new building works (+5%) and current maintenance and repair works (+4.6%). According to the type of constructions, engineer works went up by 12%, residential buildings by 10%, non-residential buildings by 1.5%. According to INS, in June 2025, the volume of building works grew by 5.4% compared to the same month of 2024. According to structue elements, capital repair works went up by 35.1%, maintenance and current repairs by 4.3% and new construction works grew by 1.9%. In the same reference period, the volume of construction works went up for engineering works (+9.9%) and residential buildings (9.5%). At the opposite pole we find non-residential buildings, with a frop of 0.3%. From one month to another (May-June 2025) building works recorded increases both for gross series (+14.5%) and adjusted series (+4.4%).
