The production services has increased by 0.1% in the European Union and has decreased by 0.1% in the euro zone, in May as compared to the previous month (when there was an expansion of 1% in both zones) and Romania had the most significant advance, according to the data published on Wednesday by the European Bureau for Statistics (Eurostat).The biggest increases of the production of services, in May as compared to April were registered in Romania (17.7%), Luxembourg (3.6%) and Malta (2.5%) and the most severe decline in Slovakia (minus 1.9%), Denmark (minus 1.8%) and Slovenia (minus 1.6%).Among the EU member states, the production of services dropped by 0.7% on the segment ”transport and storage”, by 0.2% for real estate activities, by 0.1% for administrative services and assistance, was stable for professional activities and increased on the segment of accommodation and food services by 1% and on the segment ”information and communication” by 0.4%. In May 2024, as compared to the similar period of 2023, the production of services has increased by 2.6% both in the EU and by 2.5% in the euro zone.The largest increases in service production in May 2024 compared to the similar period in 2023 were recorded in Luxembourg (16.6%), Malta (16.5%) and Romania (14%), and the most severe decline in Greece (minus 6.2%), Denmark (minus 3.2%) and Austria (minus 3%).Among the EU member states, the production of services has increased by 0.1% for the segment ”transport and storage”, by 7.7% for ”information and communication”, by 1.7% for real estate activities, by 2.7% for professional activities, by 1.3% for administrative and assistance services and dropped on the segment of accommodation and food services, by 1.1%.
