Eurostat: Romania was EU leader for increases of construction works in December

Construction workd recorded a modest increase in EU and the euro zone in December 2023, compared to November 2023, but Romania was by far the country with the most powerful advance in that segment, both from one month to the other and annually, according to data released by Eurostat on Tuesday.   According to these data, construction works grew by 0.8% in the euro zone and by 1.3% in EU in December 2023, compared to November 2023. Among EU member states, the most important increases were recorded in Romania (10.3%), Poland (8.5%) and Hungary (5%). In Romania's case, the 10.3% increase in December 2023 came after a 3.3% increase in November.   In December 2023, compared to December 2022, construction works grew by 1.9% in the euro zone and by 2.4% in EU. In that case too Romania is a leader in EU with a significant growth of 30.7% of construction works compared to December 2022. Other states with important increases of construction works are Poland (18.9%) and Belgium (10.7%),   According to data presented previously by the National Statistic Institute (INS) in Romania in December 2023 against December 2022, the volume of construction works grew by 27.3%, as gross series and by 25.5% according to the number of work days and season.   Reported to November 2023, in December the same year, construction works reported increases as gross series (+ 28.1%) and as adjusted series (+10.3%).
