Evolution of Russian Federation's war of aggression in Ukraine, topic of Romania-Poland Strategic Dialogue

The session of the Strategic Dialogue Romania - Poland, at the level of Foreign Affairs and Defense, held on Thursday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had as its main topics the evolution of the Russian Federation's war of aggression in Ukraine, its consequences in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea regions, bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, aspects of the defense and security policy of the European Union, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informs in a press release sent on Friday.Another theme concerned regional cooperation, with an emphasis on the B9 format, as well as the agenda of the NATO Summit in Washington.The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations Simona Cojocaru emphasized the excellent cooperation with Poland in the political-military field and appreciated Warsaw's participation with troops and capabilities within the allied structures on the territory of Romania. She also mentioned the contribution of the Romanian soldiers active in the NATO Battle Group in Poland, as well as the transfer of authority, which took place recently, between the Romanian anti-aircraft defense detachments Transylvanian Cheetahs and colleagues from the Anti-Aircraft Defense Detachment, XV-th rotation, Sky Guardians."In the context of the most recent developments of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, Romanian and Polish officials condemned the recent attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and emphasized the need for the international community's continued support for Kiev. Also, the impact of this war was discussed on the partners in the region, especially on the Republic of Moldova, emphasizing the need to intensify assistance and support efforts for the accession process of this country to the European Union," the press release reads.Regarding the allied agenda and the Washington Summit, the dialogue focused on the need to maintain and strengthen a unified vision regarding the defense of the Eastern Flank of the North Atlantic Alliance, taking into account the strategic relevance of the Black Sea.The consultations were followed by a visit of the delegations to the South-East Multinational Division Command, where a briefing was held regarding the specifics and activities of this allied structure hosted by Romania.Ana Tinca, Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs, on behalf of Romania, and Pawel Zalewski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defense, and Robert Kupiecki, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Poland's behalf, have also participated in the meeting.
