Exhibition "Brancusi: Romanian sources and universal perspectives" unprecedented success, over 30,000 tickets booked

The exhibition "Brancusi: Romanian sources and universal perspectives", which is on display at the National Art Museum of Timisoara (MNArT), is the most representative event of the year of Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2023, with over 30,000 tickets booked in just two weeks from the opening, the MNArT announced on Tuesday in a press release sent on Tuesday.It is the most important exhibition dedicated to the great Romanian sculptor in the last half century in Romania.Taking into account the success of the exhibition and the huge demand, the number of tickets available for each time slot has been increased. From the beginning, the exhibition was planned to operate with a daily programme extended to 10 hours compared to the museum's normal programme of 8 hours.This is the first time in Romania that the general public can admire in the same exhibition works of inestimable value from the artist's universal heritage, such as The Kiss, Maiastra, Bird in Space, The Muses (Mlle Pogany and The Sleeping Muse), Sleep, Fish, Child's Head etc. The sculptures are exhibited together with a carefully guided selection of photographs and fragments filmed by Constantin Brancusi.Another novelty of this exhibition is the bilingual audio guide produced by Radio Romania Cultural with texts signed by Daria Ghiu and recorded by actors Florin Piersic Jr, in Romanian, and Ana Ularu, in English.The exhibition "Brancusi: Romanian sources and universal perspectives" is open until 28 January 2024 at the National Museum of Art in Timisoara, and tickets can be purchased by booking in advance on the dedicated website brancusi-2023.info or directly at the museum ticket booth. Visiting hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 20:00. On Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as from 24 to 26 December and 31 December 2023 to 2 January 2024, the museum is closed.The exhibition's low-lit, intimate scenography and limited space allow access to a limited number of visitors, with organisers estimating a total visitor capacity of around 70,000 admissions for the duration of the exhibition.The organisers suggest that the public should bear in mind that online tickets are generally sold out two to three days in advance, especially on weekends. In addition to tickets that can be booked online in advance, a limited number of tickets are available each morning for that day, which can be purchased directly from the museum ticket booth.Curated by Doina Lemny, the exhibition is funded by the Timisoara County Council and organized by the National Museum of Art in Timisoara, the Art Encounters Foundation and the French Institute of Romania, through its Timisoara branch. The event is part of the official programme Timisoara 2023: European Capital of Culture.
