Expert Forum think-tank to organise electoral information & assistance center for June 9 local and EP polls

Public policies and government reform think-tank Expert Forum is organizing an electoral information and assistance center for the June 9 local and European Parliament elections, where electoral and law experts will answer the most frequently asked questions related to the voting day, and will also provide assistance with reporting irregularities, the think-tank informed on Wednesday in a release.According to the cited document, the voters who need information regarding the electoral process can access the www.votcorect.ro platform where they can get answers to the most frequent questions related to the voting procedures, decisions of the electoral offices, observation or irregularity reporting rules. A form whereby any citizen can report irregularities on the voting day is also available on the website. Voters will receive assistance to file complaints, if applicable, or will be guided to exercise their right to vote.The member organizations of the VotCorect coalition will monitor the voting process with over 800 independent observers accredited in the country and abroad, who will be present at the polling stations throughout the day of June 9 to ensure the fairness of the local elections, but also to collect data that will help develop recommendations for improving the electoral process. The monitoring of the electoral process will be carried out with the help of the VoteMonitor smartphone application developed by Code for Romania, the cited source also states.Those interested can call the Telverde phone number 0800 460 002 - toll-free in Romania, or 0318.222.800 - at the normal rate for abroad. The call center will be active on June 8 between 10:00 and 18:00, and on June 9 between 6:00 and 22:00. More details about the call center at www.votcorect.ro.The main conclusions of the observation campaign will be made public on June 9, and the releases will be accessible on the web page www.votcorect.ro/comunicate. A press conference will be organized in Bucharest on June 10 at 13:00 hrs (which will be also broadcast online) to present the main conclusions of the observation campaign.The VotCorect coalition consists of Expert Forum, the Civic Resources Center, the Civic Association, the Center for the Study of Democracy, the Radautiul Civic advocacy association, and the Electoral Observatory. The Code for Romania association ensures the development of the smartphone app.
