Fabrica De Lapte Brasov Opens New Logistics Center After €40M

Fabrica de Lapte Brasov, the company behind the Olympus brand and one of the largest dairy producers in Romania and the region, is setting a new standard in logistics with the inauguration of a new logistics center in Halchiu, Brasov County. This project, backed by an investment exceeding 40 million euros, covers a total area of 13,500 square meters and is designed to optimize logistics processes.   Among numerous features, the new center also houses one of Romania’s largest high-bay cold storage facilities, designed to reduce energy consumption significantly. The high-bay warehouse has a capacity of over 32,000 pallets and is equipped with the most advanced temperature control systems (2-4°C). It is fully automated, which helps optimize resource usage and reduce the carbon footprint of the entire logistics process.   ”For Olympus, sustainability is a core part of our business strategy. The new logistics center allows us to strengthen our position in international markets while ensuring that our products are stored and delivered in an efficient and eco-friendly manner. We will continue to invest in sustainable technologies, providing our customers with products of the highest quality,” said Athanasios Giannousis, Commercial Manager of Olympus Romania.   ”The new logistics center in Brasov County represents a strategic investment for Olympus and a significant step towards a greener future. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and this project fully reflects our pledge to implement sustainable technologies that support a cleaner environment. From reducing energy consumption to optimizing space, every detail has been designed to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact,” added Dimitrios Kelas, General Manager of Fabrica de Lapte Brasov.   A high-bay warehouse stands out primarily for its efficient use of space. Developed vertically, the new Olympus high-bay refrigerated warehouse offers high volume with a reduced footprint and is one of the largest of its kind in Romania. Compared to a traditional ground-levellow-bay warehouse of the same capacity, the Olympus high-bay warehouse has a six times smaller footprint. This aspect provides a double benefit in reducing environmental impact: first, by minimizing built space, and second, by reducing the energy required to manage goods.   The new logistics center in Brasov will serve both the local market and all the countries where Olympus dairy products made in Romania are exported, including Germany, Italy, France, the UK, Bulgaria, and Serbia. By the end of 2024, the new logistics hub will be fully operational and integrated with the nearby dairy factory, further strengthening the group’s position as a leader in the food industry and a pioneer of sustainable development. This new facility is part of Hellenic Dairies Group’s commitment to develop a sustainable business in all the countries where the company in present.
