The Standard & Poor's rating mission will arrive in Romania in three weeks, and clear, continuously communicated and transparent results - alongside fiscal discipline that does not hinder investment - and responsibility are key to Romania's credibility, acting Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare wrote on Thursday evening on his Facebook page."The deficit compared with the same period last year, 2025, is down by more than 28 billion lei. Practically, the deficit drops by 37%, while at the same time investments increase by almost 24%, by 15 billion lei. There are three weeks left until the Standard & Poor's mission arrives in Romania. Standard & Poor's will publish the country report on 2 October. It is an exam just as important as the others we had and passed successfully this August," the minister said in a video message posted on the social network.According to him, interest expenditures rose by more than 26% up to July, exceeding 40 billion lei, and if the deficit is not kept under control in the coming years, these costs will rise even further."We are not doing this for others; we are doing it for ourselves, so we do not leave an indebted country to our children and grandchildren. And we must do it so we can relaunch the economy and bring interest rates down, allowing investment," Nazare pointed out.
