FM: Over 1.3 million jobs occupied in public institutions and authorities in October 2024

There were 1,300,297 jobs occupied in public institutions and authorities in Romania, in October 2024, 33,489 more than in the previous month. The most important increase was recorded in the Ministry of Education (plus 29,491 jobs), according to data released by the Finance Ministry website.   Over 64% of the occupied jobs were in central public administration (833,454 jobs, + 33,522 against September 2024). Of them, 616,124 were in insitutions fully financed by the state budget (+30,630 employees compared to the previous month).   The highest number of occupied jobs were recorded in the Ministry of Education – 305,884 jobs (+29,941 against September 2024), the Interior Ministry – 123,026 jobs (minus 907), the National Defense Ministry – 79,342 jobs (+ 2,381), the Finance Ministry – 24,481 jobs (minus 67) and the Health Ministry -17,894 jobs (minus 296).   According to the source mentioned above, the institutions financed from the social security budget 9,238 positions were occupied (minus 30 against September 2024), those financed by the state budget and unemployment insurance budget had 44,525 jobs (minus 33), while institutions financed by personal incomes included 163,567 occupied jobs (+2,955).   At the same time, there were 466,843 people employed by the local public administration in October 2024 (minus 33 against the previous month), of which 286,011 were in institutions financed only by local budgets (minus 721) and 180,932 in institutions fully or partially financed from their own incomes (+688).
