Foreign minister underscores Romania will further ensure secure export corridors for Ukrainain grain

Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu on Friday had a meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas Miroslav Jenca, in which context she underscored that Romania would further ensure secure export corridors for Ukrainian grain.According to a Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) release, Odobescu reiterated Romania's support for the peace formula proposed by Ukraine's president, as "a unique framework that can lead to a just and sustainable peace."Furthermore, the Romanian minister reaffirmed the support for the activities of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs within the UN Secretariat, as well as Romania's constant commitment to supporting the UN, the rule-based international order and efficient multilateralism.In the perspective of marking two years since the launch of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the Romanian official highlighted "the imperative of the international constant support for Ukraine." She stressed as well the need of a solid and continuous support for the Republic of Moldova aimed at managing the hybrid challenges, in the context in which Russia is resorting to destabilising and compromising actions against the European path of this country.The agenda of UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas Miroslav Jenca also included consultations at the Romanian Foreign Ministry with secretary of state for global affairs and diplomatic strategies Traian Hristea and with secretary of state for strategic affairs Iulian Fota. As part of the discussions topics of a regional and global interest were approached, including Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the security situation in the Black Sea area, the developments in the Western Balkan region, Eastern Europe and the Republic of Moldova.
