Foreign trips amounting to expenses of over 16.6 million RON in 2022 by president Iohannis in 2022

  President Klaus Iohannis made, last year, 21 foreign trips totaling expenses of over 16.6 million RON (about 3.387 million euros), according to a response from the Presidential Administration, to the request of Agerpres.Thus, the president participated, on February 16, in Paris, at the invitation of his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in an informal working dinner on the security situation in the Sahel, followed by the 6th European Union - African Union Summit, organized in Brussels, on February 17 and 18, and on February 24 - in the Extraordinary meeting of the European Council (Brussels).In March, president Iohannis was present at the extraordinary meeting of heads of state and government from NATO member countries, organized at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance in Brussels (March 24), and at the meeting of the European Council, also in Brussels (March 24 - March 25).On May 30 and 31, president Klaus Iohannis participated in the extraordinary meeting of the European Council in Brussels.On June 14, in The Hague, he participated in the meeting in a restricted format, in preparation for the NATO Summit; on June 20, in Riga, Latvia, at the seventh edition of the Three Seas Initiative Summit (3SI) and the fourth edition of the 3SI Business Forum; on June 23 and 24, in Brussels, at the meetings of the leaders of the European Union and the Western Balkans, the European Council and the Euro Summit in extended format; between June 28-30 - at the NATO Summit in Madrid.In September, the president attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London. On September 20 and 21, he led the Romanian delegation to the high-level segment of the 77th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, organized in New York. President Iohannis's visit to the United States of America also included a trip to San Francisco on September 22 and 23.In October, president Iohannis was present at the first meeting of the European Political Community and at the informal meeting of the European Council in Prague (6-7 October) and at the meeting of the European Council in Brussels (20-21 October).On November 7 and 8, the president participated in the Climate Implementation Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, and on November 11-12, in the Paris Peace Forum. Also, president Iohannis paid an official visit to the Republic of Latvia, in Riga, on November 23, followed by an official visit to the Republic of Lithuania, in Vilnius, on November 24, and participation in the international symposium on November 25, in Kaunas "The Idea of Europe" and in the meeting of the heads of state from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Romania.The president paid a working visit to Athens on December 2 and 3, and on December 6 he participated in the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana. On December 14 and 15, he was in Brussels, at the EU-ASEAN summit and at the European Council meeting.
