ForMin Hurezeanu welcomes OSCE official

  Romania's Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu on Monday March 24 welcomed ambassador Thomas Lenk, special representative of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Chairmanship-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process, saying that Romania appreciates Moldova's balanced, responsible and constructive approach of the complex issues related to the Transnistrian settlement, especially in the current regional context.According to the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE), Hurezeanu presented Romania's constant and principled position of supporting a comprehensive, peaceful and lasting settlement of the Transnistrian file while observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova within its internationally recognised borders and without affecting its European future.He encouraged the continuation of the important support provided by the OSCE to Moldova in its efforts to maintain a technical dialogue with Tiraspol, in order to solve problems that directly affect the citizens on both banks of the Nistru.Ambassador Lenk was accompanied by the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Kelly Keiderling.On the occasion of the OSCE officials' visit to Bucharest, consultations were held with senior strategic affairs official Ana Tinca.Discussions focused on the regional security situation and its impact on Moldova, the effects of the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region and the developments in the dialogue between the two banks of the Nistru.Hurezeanu underlined the important support of the European Union for Moldova, including in the energy sector.At the same time, he showed that Romania is carefully following the developments in the Transnistrian region and underlined the importance of freedom of movement, as well as respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in the region, including in terms of meeting all the conditions for the proper operation of educational establishments in the region with Romanian tuition.   (Photo: www.mae.ro)
