ForMin Oana Toiu, at the UN Security Council's emergency meeting

October 9, 2025

Romania stands in full solidarity with Estonia, a country whose airspace was recently violated by three Russian fighter jets, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, announced on Monday on platform X.''At today's UN Security Council's emergency meeting, I presented Romania's security interests in face of Russia's ongoing provocations. I strongly condemned the Russian reckless violations of European airspace - this time Estonia, last week Romania, before that Poland. Such provocations undermine international peace and security and blatantly ignore state sovereignty and international law,'' the Romanian chief diplomat wrote.''Romania stands in full solidarity with Estonia, and our allies and partners in defending sovereignty, territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter,'' Minister Toiu reiterated. She pointed out that the UN Security Council's emergency meeting ''shows that the region and the international community firmly rejects Russia's war of aggression and stands together against its continuous disregard of UN Charter provisions.''Minister Toiu reiterated Romania's support for reaching peace in the region.''In face of Russia's repeated provocations, robust early warning arrangements with participation of the countries in the region, NATO and the EU are needed from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea. Romania commends the ongoing efforts of the US, EU and like-minded nations to restore peace and security in the region. In the interest of peace and security the time to put an end to the pattern of aggression and provocation is now,'' Toiu said.   (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/)
