ForMin Odobescu, discussion with French counterpart regarding France's contribution to consolidate NATO's Eastern Flank

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, had, on Monday, in Paris, a meeting with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barrot, on the sidelines of the working visit undertaken in the French capital by the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, MAE informs.According to the cited source, Luminita Odobescu highlighted the special relevance of the cooperation of the two countries in the field of Defense, reiterating the appreciation of the Romanian side for the solid contribution of France to the consolidation of the security of the Eastern Flank, especially by assuming the role of the framework nation of the NATO Battle Group deployed to Five.He also emphasized the importance that Romania attaches to shaping a strategic EU approach to the Black Sea, in complementarity with NATO's vision, considering the strategic importance of the region in terms of security, energy and connectivity.The Romanian minister also highlighted the importance of continuing united and solidary action at the level of the European Union, Romania and France being both firm supporters of the Union's advancement on these bases....The Romanian official thanked France for its support both for the completion of the process of Romania's accession to the Schengen area and for our country to obtain the status of a member of the OECD.During the discussions, the solid support of the two countries for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine was reiterated. Also, special attention was paid to developments in the Republic of Moldova, including in the post-election context in Chisinau, welcoming the victory of President Maia Sandu in the recent presidential elections.
