A Romanian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Oana Toiu is attending in Washington the Inaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial at the invitation of the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.The head of Romanian diplomacy is on a working visit to Washington between February 3 and 6.The meeting in Washington aims to strengthen international cooperation to ensure secure and diversified supply chains, both bilaterally and EU-US, according to the Romanian Foreign Ministry.The meeting is a strategic approach to the field, and proposals for commercial partnerships will be discussed during the year, based on a technical working group at the level of the Romanian Government, to facilitate strategic investments in the area."Strengthening the economic dimension of the strategic partnership, as well as developing opportunities for joint investments are part of the key objectives of the Romanian Government this year and of increasing Romania's positioning as a key European actor for strategic autonomy in the essential field of rare minerals," according to the ministry. Romania is strengthening diplomatic ties with the US Congress - is the message of the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu, posted on X, after the meeting held on Tuesday in Washington with the Chairman of the House of Representatives' Armed Services Committee, Mike Rogers.''We share a deep longstanding friendship with Congressman Rogers and an outstanding relationship with his home state Alabama - our early partner in becoming a NATO member. We had a focused dialogue on the security situation and the importance of increasing joint investments in the defense industry to increase delivery capacity. We see US - Romania new production and maintenance facilities opportunities in a time of increased need and demand from many countries. Grateful for the continued Congressional support for the security of the Black Sea and the Eastern Flank. Strengthening our diplomatic ties with the US Congress, I extended an invitation to visit Romania in 2026 to focus on the economic component of our strategic partnership.
