Forty-one Romanians, family members leave Gaza on their way to Cairo

Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE) on Thursday evening reported that 41 Romanian citizens and their family members left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt on their way to the capital city of Cairo."On Thursday, after complex efforts of the Inter-institutional Task Force, through the Romanian Embassy in Cairo and the Romanian Representative Office in Ramallah, a number of 41 Romanian citizens and their family members left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt, on their way to Cairo. So far, a group of 93 Romanian citizens and their family members have arrived in Romania. Those 41 Romanian citizens and their families were picked up from the Rafah border crossing by a team of the Rapid Reaction Unit of the MAE Task Force and representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Egypt. They will be accompanied to Cairo by a second mobile team of the MAE Task Force. The evacuees are going to arrive in Romania soon," according to MAE.MAE is said to continue its dialogue with the Israeli and Egyptian authorities in order to facilitate the evacuation of the other citizens, depending on the developments on the ground and the agreement of the parties involved.At the same time, a mobile consular team with the MAE Task Force, equipped with mobile means of providing consular assistance, remains available in the area of the Rafah crossing to provide further consular assistance.According to MAE, the security state of play in the region remains complex and volatile, which implies constant adaptation of the evacuation plans, depending on factors on the ground, so that the safety of the evacuees is not endangered.
