Four British Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft land at 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base

Four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) have landed at the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Military Air Base, in southeastern Constanta County, the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) announced on Thursday.The British detachment, arrived on Wednesday, consists of about 150 military (pilots and technical staff) and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and will carry out, together with the Romanian Air Force soldiers, enhanced Air Policing missions under NATO command in the next four months.This is Mihail Kogalniceanu's fourth rotation of the British Royal Air Force, after those executed in 2017, 2018 and 2021.The air policing missions, carried out jointly since 2017 and planned in the year before the deployment of the detachments, contribute to the development of the response and deterrence capability, as well as to the consolidation of the interoperability between the Romanian Air Force and the allied ones.
