French Film Festival over March 20-30 in 12 Romanian cities

The 29th edition of the French Film Festival returns over March 20-30 in 12 Romanian cities, opening the event season “Together French Spring”, a press release informed on Thursday.   “Together French Spring” season represents the peak of the French Institute Centennial in Romania, celebrated over May 2024-May 2025, marking a century of engagements devoted to cultural, scientific and educational cooperation between France and Romania, the press release shows.   The topic of this year's festival “Echoes” explores the way in which stories and images resonate along generations. Transmissions from one generation to the other, relations, memory and renewal are in the center of a selection which places under the question mark our age and its changes. Through 27 films devided into four sections, the program combines essential works and movies made by emerging talents, reflecting the diversity and vitality of French cinema making.   In the Panorame section, the audience will discover movies which were presented at the most prestigious international festivals: “L'Histoire de Souleymane “by Boris Lojkine, winner at Cannes, “Le Roman”b Jim de Jean-Marie and Arnaud Larrieu, selected in Cannes Premieres, “Spectateurs!”by Armand Desplechin, “Diamant Brut”by Agathe Reidinger, which was part of the official competition of Cannes Film Festival, “Quand vient l'automne” by Francois Ozon, awarded for screenplay at San Sebastian Festival.   The Young Talent – Motion picture competition turns to account four movies made by a new generation of film makers whose works have already won critics and audiences - “Vingt Dieux”by Kouise Courvoisier, “Mon Inseparable” by Anne-Sophie Bailly, “Hiver a Sokcho” by Koya Kamura, “Rabies” by Mareike Engelhardt. Presented in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara, these movies run for a prize of 1,000 euros offered by the Embassy of France.   The Young Audience section offers a selection of films adapted for young audiences, children or teenagers. Inititating new generations in French cinematography, the Festival offers them opening to universal stories and works that feed imagination.   The Young Talent – Short reel competition brings to the fore five movies made by French movie makers, which were selected at the International Festival in Clermont-Ferrand. A jury made of young Romanian critics will choose the winner who will benefit from residency at Residence de Poche of the French Institute in Romania.   The French Film Festival is organized by the French Institute in Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara and is organized by Arad Municipal Education Center, French Alliance Brasov, Cinefeel Braila, “Jean Constantin” Multifunctional Education Center for Youth, Constanta, Art by Cityplex Sfantu Gheorghe , “Radu Stanca” National Theatre Sibiu, Suceava French Alliance, Mures County Museum and Mures County Council.
