French IntMin Darmanin: We should help more the countries bodering Ukraine, such as Romania

April 12, 2022

The French Minister of Internal Affairs, Gerald Darmanin, considers it necessary to step up the support that the member states of the European Union must give to Ukraine, but also to the neighboring states, including Romania. He said on Friday, during a visit to the northeastern Siret Border Crossing Point, that he would convene, in an extraordinary meeting, the Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union to adopt a set of measures aimed at providing more aid to Ukraine and neighboring countries."We have triggered the humanitarian coordination procedure that allows the arrival of tonnes and tonnes of medicines, clothing and food. We have thus accelerated humanitarian support and launched the temporary protection mechanism that allows Ukrainian citizens to be protected throughout the European continent. All persons will have access to medical care, child schooling, work authorization and social security. We need to help more the bordering countries, such as Romania. That is why I will still convene in the Extraordinary JHA Council, so that all the European states can help," Gerald Darmanin said.At the same time, the French official appreciated the "incredible effort the Romanian people are making" and thanked the civil society involved in supporting the refugees in Ukraine. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Bode, and his French counterpart, Gerald Darmanin, paid a visit on Friday to the Siret Border Crossing Point, but also to the mobile camp of Ukrainian refugees set up in the Siret city of Suceava County.  (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=336687481821750&set=pb.100064415032401.-2207520000..)
