The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, under the guidance of conductor Charles Dutoit, is set to perform on Monday on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, as part of the "George Enescu" International Festival, alongside legendary pianist Martha Argerich, informs the event's website.This is the second evening that music lovers will spend in the company of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, after the performance on Sunday afternoon.The programme will include "Mother Goose" M. 60, the Concerto in G major for piano and orchestra M. 83 and 'Noble and sentimental Waltzes' M. 61, by Maurice Ravel, and 'Marea L. 109' by Claude Debussy.Argerich was supposed to perform on Sunday, August 31, at the Palace Hall, but, according to ARTEXIM, "for personal reasons, she was forced to cancel both her concert at the "Enescu" Festival and the concert scheduled at the Lucerne Festival on August 28," and was replaced by pianist Seong-Jin Cho, considered one of the most important pianists of her generation.The 27th edition of the "George Enescu" International Festival takes place in Bucharest and throughout the country until September 21. This year, the theme is "Celebrations", in the context of the 70th anniversary of the great composer's death.
