The president of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), George Simion, stated on Tuesday evening that AUR does not support any prime minister proposed by PSD, and the only variant of Government it will support will be with a prime minister proposed by AUR."We do not support any prime minister proposed by PSD. The only variant through which AUR can enter government is through a prime minister proposed by AUR. Our desire, our political objective is to reach early elections. And Nicusor Dan expressed himself about this variant that it is excluded. (...) For us, the only possibility of supporting a Government is if the designated prime minister is the AUR proposal", Simion declared in a press briefing. He said that within the party there are several options for prime minister, but ''don't put the cart before the horse''."We, within the AUR party, have several names for prime minister, but we don't put the cart before the horse, because as you have seen, there are many horses in Romanian politics. You see, for the first time, Mr. Nicusor Dan should accept democracy. The fact that we are also a democratic party, the fact that we were also voted for by Romanians. We also have the right to propose a name for prime minister. We have to get there. From what I understand, Mr. Nicusor Dan wants to consult with others for the first time, not with us", said the AUR president.Previously, he was asked whether he would go before President Nicusor Dan with the proposal of Calin Georgescu for the position of prime minister, the answer being that, if he has the opportunity and if it depends on AUR, then he will do so."First of all, for this, Mr. Calin Georgescu must come forward and we must go in that direction because Mr. Calin Georgescu, in our opinion, is the president of Romania and some elections were unjustly annulled. We must return to democracy, to the constitutional framework. If we get there, there is no problem, but you see who the enemies we are facing are. And you see that, first of all, Nicusor Dan is holding some informal consultations first and then formal ones. We will see what the framework is, we will see what happens tomorrow. We have all the scenarios in front of us and we will act accordingly according to the will of the Romanian people. If we have the opportunity and it is up to us, certainly, yes", said Simion.
