Government: Since February, 614.297 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania

The government announced that 614.297 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania since 10 February. Of these, 4.328 requested some form of protection from the Romanian State.   Romania can provide about 400.000 refugee accommodation at national level. Over the past 24 hours, 8.261 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania, 4.523 directly from Ukraine, 1.952 from the Republic of Moldova and 1.786 from other States.   To date, there have been no recorded cases of crimes involving trafficking in human beings or labor exploitation against Ukrainian citizens or committed by Ukrainian citizens.   According to the Executive press release, on the fires in the Chernobyl region, the Ministry of Environment, water and forests and the national Meteorology Administration provide the following details:   - simulations of the number models run within the national Meteorology Administration on the movement of the smoke cloud in the Chernobyl area, Ukraine, from 28 to 30 March 2022 estimate that the prevailing wind direction will be from the west — south-west to the east — north-east, so the trend in the cloud of smoke will be to travel to the south, then to the east of Ukraine and then to Russia. Thus, air circulation indicates that the territory of Romania will not be affected; - radioactivity values are kept to normal levels throughout Europe, including in Ukraine, according to the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission – monitoring of environmental radioactivity. As a result of the assessments of European specialists, air circulation indicates that Romania's territory will not be affected; - experts from the national Meteorology Administration and the national Environment Protection Agency are constantly monitoring developments and will present the results of the evaluations carried out at European level.
