The government established on Friday through decision, the list of the sectors comprising activities carried out in line with the changing seasons with a view to implementing the rules governing the employment of foreign nationals as seasonal workers. According to a press release from the Government, the list covers the agricultural sector and the accommodation, catering and leisure services sector within the tourism industry. 'Thus, the agricultural sector mainly includes the following activities: the cultivation of cereals, pulses and oilseeds; the cultivation of vegetables and melons, root crops and tubers; the cultivation of grapes; the cultivation of fruit and fruit bushes; the cultivation of other perennial plants; activities on mixed farms; ancillary activities for crop production and livestock farming; post-harvest activities and seed preparation’, the press release states. The accommodation, food and leisure services sector within the tourism industry includes activities such as: accommodation services in hotels and other accommodation facilities; holiday and short-stay accommodation; campsites and holiday camps; restaurants and mobile catering units; catering services; bars and other beverage service activities; rental of recreational goods and sports equipment; theme park and amusement park activities; and other recreational and entertainment activities. ‘The establishment of this list ensures the transposition of Article 2(2) of Directive 2014/36/EU on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals for the purpose of employment as seasonal workers. The list has been drawn up in accordance with the Classification of Activities in the National Economy (CAEN), in its updated form, as set out in Government Emergency Ordinance No. 194/2002. Upon the entry into force of this decision, Government Decision No. 187/2017 shall be repealed’, according to the press release.
