The government approved on Thursday an emergency ordinance on the prevention and combat of money laundering, which regulates crypto-asset services and their control, announced the Executive's spokesman Mihai Constantin."This is a government decision in the form of an emergency ordinance on the prevention and combat of money laundering, which transposes into national law a European directive, and these regulations refer to the crypto market, for better transparency," Constantin specified after the government meeting.He mentioned that this regulatory act deals with crypto-asset services and their oversight."One of the main provision is the classification of crypto-asset service providers as financial institutions. Consequently, these providers fall under the supervision and control of the National Bank of Romania and the Financial Supervisory Authority," Constantin specified.
