The food supplement market in Romania will reach €726 million in 2025, up 7.9% from the previous year, according to data presented by Type Nature, the exclusive importer in Romania of supplements produced in Portugal by Dietmed. The data, which is collected based on forecasts made by Pharma& Hospital Report Cegedeim, was presented at the medical symposium “Integrated Solutions for Mind and Body” organized in Cluj-Napoca. According to the company’s data, 9 out of 10 Romanians have taken a dietary supplement at least once, the most popular being probiotics, hepatoprotectors, and products for immunity and respiratory tract protection. A trend in the market is the growing interest in supplements for mental and emotional health, reflecting increased consumer attention to mental well-being. According to Type Nature, one measure that could revolutionize the Romanian healthcare system is the inclusion of these products in the public health program. With more than half of public health spending focused on treating the chronically ill and acute cases, implementing a prevention strategy based on supplements could generate significant savings for the public budget. In fact, international experience supports this idea—over the next four years, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries are preparing to implement similar programs for reimbursing dietary supplements, recognizing their potential to reduce public health spending. “Once included in the public health program, the supplement market will become the pillar of prevention, complementing health strategies. Thus, investing in prevention by reimbursing food supplements would reduce pressure on the healthcare system and transform Romania into a model worthy of emulation at European level for everything related to preventive medicine,” said Valentin Popescu, co-founder of Type Nature. He also pointed out that reimbursing products is a necessary but not sufficient step, as efforts to educate the population about the benefits of prevention must continue, and standardized medical protocols for the use of supplements must be created. Another remarkable aspect highlighted by the Type Nature study is that Europe has positioned itself as the world leader in innovation in the field of food supplements, maintaining the positive trends of the previous year and recording growth above the overall global market level. Type Nature has consolidated its position on the local market, currently marketing over 150 Dietmed products in Romania, thus exceeding its 2024 portfolio. The company estimates that it will achieve a turnover of 12 million lei this year, up more than 30% from the previous year, and announces that it will mark a historic moment by selling its 1,000,000th bottle on the Romanian market. Type Nature offers complete solutions for consumer needs, focusing on three key areas: mental and emotional health, weight control, and prevention. Among the most sought-after products in the Type Nature portfolio are Magnesium Bisglycinate, the hepatoprotector “Milk Thistle,” the probiotic “Acidophilus,” and the brain tonic “Vitamineral Cerebral.” Dietary supplements have a beneficial impact on health, but it is essential to use quality raw materials. Type Nature products are labeled with clear indications such as “sugar-free,” “alcohol-free,” “gluten-free,” “lactose-free,” and “diabetic-friendly.” When it comes to weight control, Type Nature approaches this need in a professional manner, offering products that cover three essential phases: detoxification, gradual weight loss, and maintaining optimal weight, with a well-defined medical protocol. According to Type Nature data, young and active people prefer supplements in modern formats, such as drinkable solutions, tablets, and gums, which have seen significant increases in sales. From this range, the company offers numerous products, including the Lipo Rapid, Adelga, and Drena Light ranges, products that are in increasing demand nationwide. (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/)
