On Monday there were hearings between 14:00 – 20:00, the proposed ministers for Energy – Sebastian Burduja, Agriculture – Tanczos Barna, Defence – Radu Miruta, Transports – Catalin Drula, Finances – Alexandru Nazare, Economy – Irineu Darau. Only two have received a favourable recommendation so far. The first was Tanczos Barna (UDMR), who said at the hearings that he is a disciplined soldier and that is why he agreed to be part of a government which he expects will be voted down. Then there is Alexandru Nazare, who is not a member of the PNL; he already holds the Finance portfolio in the current Bolojan Government, and his name has been mentioned frequently in recent months as a potential prime ministerial nominee. The hearings will continue on Tuesday between 10.00 and 20.00, and Parliament is due to vote on the appointment of the Muresan Cabinet on Wednesday at 13.00. UDMR President Kelemen Hunor stated that the Muresan Government does not currently have the 233 votes required for its investiture. “You’ll have to ask the PSD; I don’t wish to comment on the decisions of one party or another, but after five months – or nearly five months – it is unacceptable that we do not have a government. We are doing everything in our power – as this coalition, or what remains of the old coalition, comprising the PNL, USR and ourselves – to secure the necessary votes,” said the UDMR president, as quoted by Mediafax.
