Ilie Bolojan announced new reform packages to be adopted

September 16, 2025

Premier Ilie Bolojan announced on Sunday, in a video message posted on the Facebook page of the government that during the period to come new packages of measures for Romania’s reform will be adopted.   He said that the political forces are aware of the difficult situation and stated that ‘there is no other solution’: If this measure is not adopted, what will it show? That we cannot correct things. If we give in one area or another, it will create a perception of giving in again and we will be back to where we started. Having that responsibility, I have tried to explain both within the coalition, but also to the people we talk to in the public sector. Colleagues, we must get our reforms done. It is no pleasure for anyone to take such measures. You do not take them with an open heart. Bad news leaves very few people to give it and sometimes I seem alone in that situation. With good news, there's always a big rush. For me it wasn't a comfortable situation, because I realized since last year in which direction Romania is heading. This is the truth. It is better to tell people the truth, so as not to create expectations that cannot be honored,' Bolojan said.   Premier Ilie Bolojan announced on Sunday that the government is working on the introduction of a new system of multi-annual budget for investments which would allow local and county authorities to plan their constructions works for a period of three years, during the period 2026 – 2028.These plans aim at projects financed through the National Programme for Investments ‘Anghel Saligny’ as well through national programmes for investments.‘It will be a multi-annual programme which means national budgets for these programmes. Each authority, each construction will know how much money they get in 2026, 2027 and 2028 and will be able to plan, so that the sites are correctly organised’ Ilie Bolojan said. The Prime Minister underlined that Romania has already exceeded its investment capacity, which is why it is necessary to clearly prioritize projects according to their economic impact and the real needs of the regions.
