In meeting with Ukrainian ambassador, Defense minister reaffirms Romania's unwavering support for Ukraine

Minister of National Defense Liviu-Ionut Mosteanu met on Tuesday at the Ministry's headquarters with Ukrainian ambassador in Bucharest Ihor Prokopchuk, with the two approaching ways in which Romania can ramp up its support for the neighboring state, in the context of the instruments implemented by NATO, the EU and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, the National Defense Ministry said in a release.The talks also focused on the security situation in the Black Sea region and the implications of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, with Minister Mosteanu reiterating Romania's firm and unwavering support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He stressed that, in the face of direct threats to regional security, Romania maintains its commitment to a multidimensional and sustainable support for Ukraine, in close coordination with NATO and the European Union."Romania remains an active and dedicated supporter of international efforts to support Ukraine. Our cooperation and solidarity must be constant and adjusted to the current security challenges," the National Defense minister said.He also highlighted Romania's consistent contribution to the collective efforts to train the Ukrainian troops, through participation in the EU Military Assistance Mission - EUMAM Ukraine, as well as in the British-led INTERFLEX mission.In the same context, the Defense minister highlighted the essential role of the F-16 Training Center in Romania - dedicated to the instruction of Romanian jet pilots, as well as of fliers from allied countries and other partner states, including Ukraine, which he said "represents a tangible contribution to strengthening interoperability and collective security in the region."At the end of the meeting, the Romanian side reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a constant and applied dialogue, as an essential tool for managing security challenges and supporting regional stability in the current geopolitical context.
