Industrial producer prices in Romania overall - domestic market and external market - increased by 12.1% in May 2026 year-on-year, according to provisional data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).In annual terms and by major industrial groups, the largest price increases were recorded in the energy industry (+23.75%), the intermediate goods industry (+9.09%), the capital goods industry (+5.94%), the consumer goods industry (+5.19%) and in the durable goods industry (+2.22%).Industrial producer prices increased significantly for the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+21.33% from May 2025), then in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation (+13.74%), in manufacturing (+8.89%) and in mining and quarrying (+7.79%).On a monthly basis, industrial producer prices were up 1.4%.Thus, price in the intermediate goods industry advanced 2.41%, in the the durable goods industry 1.38%, and in the capital goods industry 1.35%.Also, on a monthly basis prices charged in the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning increased by1.97%, those in manufacturing by 1.25%, while in mining and quarrying the increase was 0.41%, and in the water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation 0.33%.
