Infrastructure: Constanta: Goods traffic on the rise in Romanian sea ports this year

The overall traffic of goods in Romanian sea ports was over 62 million tons in the first 11 months of the year, 13.5% higher than in the same period of 2020, the management of the National Administration of Sea Ports Company (CNAPM) Constanta informed on Wednesday. Florin Goidea, the general manager of CNAPM mentioned at a press conference, that cereal traffic is 24 million tons in the mentioned period, the highest in the history of Constanta Port.   According to him, the total traffic of goods, 48.06 million tons, represents sea traffic and 14.78 million tons river traffic, both cases recording growths.   “Sea traffic grew by 15.01%, that is 48.06 million tons again st 41.8 million tons in the first 11 months of 2020, while river traffic recorded an increase of 8.7%, that is 14.78 million tons against 13.6 million tons, the quantity recorded over January- November 2020,” the representative of CNAPM Constanta said.   According to him, significant traffic increases are found for the following groups of goods: crude oil, solid mineral fuel, metal products, ore, oil seeds and fruit. Traffic drops were recorded mainly for fodder, chemical products and cellulose ad paper waste.   A slight drop is noticed in container traffic – about 5.7 million tons against 5.8 million tons recorded in the same period of 2020, which means – 1.72%. The same thing is seen in the number of TEUs, that is 584,454 at the end of November 2021, compared ti 592,486 in 2020 (- 1.36%).
