Infrastructure : HiSky inaugurates Bucharest - Chisinau route

November 1, 2023

On Monday, September 25th, HiSky operated its first flight between Bucharest and Chisinau. Starting this week, the route enters the company's regular flight portfolio, with a frequency of three flights per week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, departing from the capital of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest and return.   The flights are operated with one of the Airbus A320 family aircraft in the company's fleet. Thus, HiSky positions itself as the first private operator on this route and the only one that provides passengers with a jet engine aircraft for medium-distance flights, offering a heightened level of comfort.   In addition to the business and tourism connections created between the two capitals, the new route opens up a variety of travel opportunities for passengers from Chisinau to other cities in Romania and Western Europe. The schedule has been designed so that after landing in Bucharest, in the morning, passengers wishing to continue their journey to another European destination can board one of the departing flights from this airport.   "With the launch of this route, we manage to connect all our three hubs: Bucharest, Chisinau, and Cluj-Napoca. This means that no matter the departure airport, every HiSky passenger now has access to all the destinations we operate. Apart from the significant advantage it brings to those flying from Chisinau, I am convinced that this route will be equally popular among Romanian passengers. The level of economic exchanges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is extremely high, and many businesspeople and employees of multinational companies travel frequently to and from Chisinau. Moreover, given that we are launching flights at the beginning of autumn, we are also counting on tourists who will choose to spend a weekend or a mini-vacation in the Republic of Moldova, one of the most appealing tourist destinations for this season, in terms of activities and prices," explained Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.   To accommodate passengers who frequently travel from Bucharest to Chisinau, the airline has also introduced the option to purchase Smart Pass ticket bundles, a service previously available exclusively on domestic routes in Romania. The subscription, mainly intended for companies but also available to individuals, allows the purchase of tickets at a discounted price for travel over the course of a year, with a series of included benefits.   HiSky operates a fleet of seven Airbus aircraft from the A320 family, with an average age of 7 years, namely one A319 aircraft, four A320 aircraft and two A321 neo aircraft, manufactured in 2023. In Romania, the company operates regular flights from Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi and Baia Mare airports, to domestic and international destinations, but also charter flights, to holiday destinations in Europe, Asia and Africa.
