ING Bank Romania posted a gross profit of 667.4 million lei (RON) in the first half of 2026, down 29.2% from the same period last year, the bank said on Monday.Total income rose 1.6% year-on-year to 2.1 billion lei, while lending increased 14.9% to 52 billion lei and customer deposits grew 5.4% to 72.5 billion lei.According to CEO Mihaela Bitu, the bank reached a milestone of 2 million active customers during the first half of the year, with more than 90% of its total customer base actively using ING products and services.The bank said it mobilised more than 810 million euros for projects supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, mainly energy-efficiency improvements in the real estate sector and decarbonisation investments.ING Bank Romania also participated in arranging Romania's largest-ever sovereign bond issue, a 4 billion U.S. dollar transaction structured in three tranches with maturities of five, 10 and 30 years, which the bank said attracted strong international investor demand.ING Bank Romania is part of ING Group, which provides banking services to more than 41 million retail, corporate and institutional clients in over 40 countries.
