Over half of Romanians have a good opinion about election results in Moldova, where the pro-European party won the elections with over 50% of votes, an INSCOP opinion poll released on Tuesday shows. According to sociological studies, 58.4% of respondents have a good opinion about election results in Moldova, 20.7% have a bad opinion, while 20.9% do not know or would not answer. At the same time, 71% of PSD voters have a good opinion about the victory of the pro-European party in Moldova and only 10% have a bad opinion. As for PNL voters, 85% of them have a good opinion about election results, 12% have a bad opinion. 92% of USR voters have a good opinion and only 1% have a bad one, while 39% of UR voters have a good opinion and 39% a bad one. The poll also shows that 65% of men have a good opinion about election results in Moldova, while 21% have a bad opinion, and 52% of women have a good opinion and 20% a bad one. According to age, for 18-29 years category: 74% have a good opinion vesus the election results in Moldova, 20% have a bad one; for the 30-44 years category: 51% have a good opinion and 23% a bad one; for the 45-59 years category: 56% have a good opinion and 19% a bad one, while for the 60 plus years: 59% have a good opinion and 21% a bad one. The sociological study also presents the situaton according to repondents' studies. Thus, 46% of people with primary education have a good opinion versus election results in Moldova and 26% a bad one, while 57% of people with middle education interviewed have a good opinion and 23% a bad one, and 79% of people with higher education have a good opinion and only 8% a bad one. The situation in Bucharest is that 73% of people have a good opinion about these results, 11% a bad one. In the rural area, 52% have a good opinion and 28% a bad one. In the large urban area (over 90,000 inhabitants), 68% have a good opinion and 12% a bad one, while in the small urban area (under 90,000 inhabitants), 55% have a good opinion and 19% a bad one. At the same time, 60% of state employees have a good opinion about election results in Moldova and 12% a bad one, while 62% of employees in the private sector have a good opinion and 20% a bad one. “The public opinion perception in Romania reflects a consistent support for Moldova's pro-European direction, which suggests cultural and political closeness, as well as the Romanians' confidence in Moldova's democratic evolution. On the other hand, the positive opinion is strongly connected to the parties' orientation. USR voters (92%), PNL (92%) and PSD (71%) back election results, while AUR voters are divided. In conditions in which AUR leaders intensely criticised the ruling party in Moldova, which won the elections, the fact that half of AUR voters have an evaluation contrary to AUR leaders becomes relevant and have a good opinion on election results in Moldova”, said Remus Stefureac, INSCOP Research manager. He mentioned that “there is no population category in which unfavorable opinions about election results could be more powerful than the good one.” “However, people with primary education form the rural area or small towns is more skeptical, but the share of good opinions about election results is superior to bad opinions,”he explained. The study was made over October 6-10 by INSCOP Research upon the order of informat.ro news platform, in partnership with the strategic think-tank Thinking Group. Data were collected through CATI method (phone interviews), the volume of the simple, stratified sample being 1,100 people, representative for significant social-demographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for Romania's population aged over 18. The maximum data error admitted is plus/minus 2.95%, to a confidence degree of 95%.
